Alina Valcarce
Founder & Design Director
Alina Valcarce is a Spanish architect whose creative vision and uncompromising design standard have shaped Valcarce Architects into a practice recognized across the world's most demanding design markets. Born in Cuba and raised in Spain, her perspective was formed early by a life lived across cultures, environments, and ways of seeing the world. Years of working across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East gave her instinct for place, a sensitivity to context, and a design intelligence that is as global as it is deeply personal.
Architecture, for Alina, has never been about the image. It has always been about the experience. How a space receives you. How light moves through it across the course of a day. How the materials around you make you feel. This belief is not a philosophy she arrived at it is one she has always designed from, and it runs through every project Valcarce Architects has ever produced. Her work is defined by fluid, expressive forms that feel connected to their surroundings, integrated across architecture, interiors, and landscape as one cohesive vision from the very first sketch to the final built outcome.
Hospitality has been the sharpest expression of this thinking. It is a sector that demands the highest level of integration and the clearest understanding of human experience and it is the lens through which Alina approaches everything the studio takes on. Cove Residences and Beach Walk on Dubai Islands reflect this sensibility, where elegance, spatial fluidity, and a strong connection to place come together in environments that feel both striking and entirely natural to inhabit. Vestoria Bay Residence extends this language further, rooted in its coastal context and defined by an architectural narrative that is confident and precise. Gaia Luxury Habitat represents her most forward-looking ambition a prefabricated hospitality concept shortlisted at the WAN Awards 2026 that explores sustainable design as a living system, one that moves, breathes, and deepens the relationship between people and the natural world.
Her leadership is as intentional as her design. Under her direction, Valcarce Architects operates through a fully integrated process BIM-driven, technically precise, and built on a culture where creativity and execution are never in conflict. She sets the standard, holds it, and brings her team with her. The result is a studio that consistently delivers work that is visually powerful, fully resolved, and meaningful to the people who experience it.
The recognition has followed. Named among the 40 Under 40 Best Designers in Asia in 2018, Alina has since been recognised as Game Changer of the Year 2025, listed among the Top 200 Women Power Leaders 2024, and featured in the Design Middle East Architects Powerlist.
